Happy Morning

We found MORE Jeannie clothes!  Ellie, Ryan and I went to A Children's Place to get new clothes for Hannah because she can't stop growing. We found these Jeannie pajamas and Ellie was SO excited! We got matching pairs for the girls.  We of course had to take another picture.  These two kiddos were both in a happy mood this morning and Ryan loves to pose!

Special Visitors

Yesterday Stefany & Todd Crook stopped by on their way home to Colorado from Houston.  They went on a cruise and stopped by here to see us!  It was SO nice to catch up with Stefany, even though it was only for dinner.  Ellie was SO excited to show Sister Crook her Jeannie outfit, but I made her wait to put it on until today. We took a picture and sent it to her.  We LOVE the Crook family!

This picture was another surprise on my phone!

Dentist Check-Ups

Ellie and Jacob had their dental check-ups today with Dr. Sharp.  They both did great.  Jacob joined the no-cavity club.  Ellie has cavites between her back molars on both sides on the bottom. We have scheduled her to get caps on all 4 of those teeth in a couple of weeks.

Dallas Zoo

Today was a beautiful day to head to the Dallas Zoo!  We enjoyed the mild weather and some fun family time together.  There was a bird show that was fun with birds flying over our heads and a beaver swimming through a little stream.  We got to see some new animals like an anteater, 6 huge tortoises, and koala bears.  There are a lot of giraffes there.  We also saw warthogs and the kids really enjoyed watching them.

Ellie was SO excited to see the lions!  When we walked up to their enclosure she yelled "ASLAN!"  Brent is reading "The Chronicles of Narnia" to the kids and they just watched the first movie a couple of weeks ago.

Bobcat In the House

Jacob started Cubscouts in December when he turned 8.  He has been having lots of fun!  At tonight's pack meeting/Blue and Gold banquet, he earned his Bobcat Award.  He was so excited to earn a "prize."  We didn't know that we had a special ceremony to go through.  We got to paint on each other's faces and I received my first of many "mom" pins.  I am SO proud of this handsome boy! Great job Jacob!

BLUE is from the sky. The paw print of the Bobcat on your forehead is the spirit of the bobcat. This reminds you to do your best on the Cub Scout Trail.

YELLOW is from the sun. The marks under your eyes will help you see the light of the Cub Scout trail and they symbolize the bright spirit of Cub Scouting.

WHITE is for purity. The mark on your nose helps you know right from wrong as you go along the Cub Scout trail.

RED is for courage. The mark on your chin reminds you to always speak the truth.

GREEN stands for the spirit of nature. The marks on each cheek will guide you to live in harmony with the great outdoors.

Jacob's turn to paint on Mom...
Again WHITE is for Love and guidance, your parents are always with you in your heart and in your spirit. They will always do the right thing and will help you achieve all your Scout goals and keep you on the track of life until you are a man and can soar with the Eagles.

New Glasses

Hannah got her new glasses on Friday.  She was SO excited to send a picture to miss Eliza in Colorado (hence the silly face).  She sure looks cute!

Mice

We have had a LOT of mice in our garage.  I have caught several, but there have been 2 instances that I have had to hasten their deaths.  The first one was still very much alive and squirming and squeaking.  I was not smart in my tool of choice and ended up having to hit the poor thing several times to finally put it out of it's misery.

The 2nd instance is pictured here.  This tricycle was about 3 feet away from the place that the trap had been set.  When I tried to extract him from the peddle he was still alive.  Ugh.. so I called Brent, actually expecting him to do something about the situation while 1/2 hour away at work.  I got up my courage, removed him, and tried to make it a swift death. Yuck, yuck, yuck.  :(

Rockstar Ellie!

Dr. Sharp had a quick evaluation of Ellie today and decided that those wiggly teeth would be better off just coming out.  He gave her some "yucky" medicine and then numbed her up and wiggled them right out.  He did a quick and easy extraction and Ellie was a Rockstar through the entire thing!  She wasn't even upset because she is SO excited for the tooth fairy to come tonight!

The yucky medicine

Getting numb

We had to stop by preschool to show her friends and then we went to get some ice cream.

Brent's knee, the day after.  If you look closely you can see the two little teeth marks there.  She even broke the skin through his pants.

Trampoline Fun in the Winter

One of the bonuses to living in Texas is that we can leave our trampoline up year-round and jump on the nice days... a lot!  Ryan has recently discovered the joys of the trampoline as well and asks to go out every day.

The only problem with the trampoline are the incidents that happen.  Yesterday Jacob kneed himself in the mouth and broke the gums where his tooth was trying to come through.  It was not a major injury... just hastened the process.  He will have a sore mouth for a couple of days.  Ellie got hurt this evening as well.  She and Brent were jumping and Ellie's mouth connected with Brent's knee. Her front two teeth are bleeding and pretty wiggly. We will head to the dentist in the morning to see what he thinks about the situation.  Eeeek!
